Micro Adjustments: Why the Last Few Pixels Shake

Micro adjustment is not simply moving the mouse more slowly. The main movement brings the crosshair near the target; a small finger or wrist movement finishes alignment. Mixing both jobs creates shake.

Give large and small movements different jobs

The first movement only needs to approach the target. The final movement owns precision. Trying to land perfectly in one motion makes the whole arm participate in the last pixels and the landing point becomes unstable.

Practice stopping near the edge first, then make a very short correction. It may lower score at first, but it shows whether you are overshooting or never reaching the target.

Shake often comes from excess grip

The closer you get, the easier it is to squeeze the mouse without noticing. That makes finger movement abrupt and the crosshair jumps around the target. Relax the ring and little fingers slightly, then continue.

If only distant small targets shake while large targets are stable, do not lower sensitivity immediately. Run several small-target rounds with the same settings and see whether the shake rises with fatigue.

Do not fire while the crosshair is still sliding

It can feel as if you are already on target while the crosshair is still moving slightly. Confirm the stop first, then fire. Once accuracy is stable, shorten that confirmation time gradually.

A useful practice order

  • Use a medium target to find clean landings.
  • Move to small targets without changing sensitivity.
  • If accuracy drops sharply for two rounds, step back one target size.
  • Finish with Three-Target Flick to see whether clean micro-corrections transfer to regular landings.
